Frequently Asked Questions
Is it okay if I collaborate with someone?
Yes. As long as both parties are credited.
Can I submit more than one piece?
Sure! But for now: 3 pieces maximum.
Is it okay if I use lyrics, poems, and fictional passages from popular/copyrighted media?
No. All work must be original.
Is it okay if the piece appeared elsewhere/was posted/was a school project?
Sure! (If it was printed in a magazine already just make sure you’re following that magazine’s rules regarding reprints.)
Can I submit a single illustration?
Yes…but it must be a story.
Can I submit a wordless story?
Yes! I LOVE those.
Can I post/publish my work after submitting it?
I would ask that you please post it on social media a month after the anthology goes live. I wish to generate interest in the whole Bag so people might sift through and discover new artists and stories. However, I do not control or own your art once you submit it.
Can anyone apply to this anthology?
Yes, AND, disabled creators are encouraged to apply. If you know any disabled artists who are looking to submit their art to new places then please spread the word. But to clarify, if you are not disabled that is perfectly fine, apply away!
Can I submit political art?
I am open to reviewing political art or art with historical references but citations must be used.
Are accepted artists paid?
Not at this time. At the moment this is a volunteer-run enterprise with one volunteer (me). If you would like to donate a dollar or two to keep me afloat that would be very kind. Donate
I know you said in the Submission Guidelines, which I totally read, that you will not accept AI art but can I use it?? Please??
No. All submissions that use AI will not be considered. If I catch you using AI anyway, you will be banned from future submissions. The Bag has spoken.
