The Oat Bag Comic Magazine was born in October 2024 with the hopes of creating an online space for comic makers and lovers. While applying to literary magazines I realized that there were not many dedicated specifically to comics or visual storytelling so I decided to fill the void with my own comic magazine. The "oat bag" concept comes from science fiction author, Ursula K. Le Guin's essay, 'The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction' in which she describes a form of storytelling similar to the gatherers of pre-history. I want to collect comics and bring them together in a lovely bag, to be amongst other grains and vegetables for artists and art lovers enjoy and discover.
